Electric Owl Works is a private, residential recording studio located in South Wales, NY and is twenty-five miles south of downtown Buffalo in rural Erie County. Just a short fifteen-minute drive on the Aurora Expressway (Rt. 400) from New York State Thruway (Rt. 90) exit 54, the facility resides on several acres of beautiful hilly and wooded land on the Allegheny Plateau.
Equipped with a unique inventory of vintage and modern gear, Electric Owl Works provides artists with a distinctive and relaxed environment to explore, discover, and create in either digital, analogue, or hybrid workflows. Featured items include a preamp from the late Lou Reed’s studio, Ric Ocasek’s 1964 Mosrite 12 string hollow-body electric guitar, and the only remaining Ross Wullenweber modified Marshall JCM800 amplifier that has been used on 10,000 Maniacs and Goo Goo Dolls album sessions as well as numerous indie releases and demo projects.
Current offerings include multi-track, ensemble and voice-over recording, re-amping, mixing, analogue summing, production, and mastering services. Electric Owl Works is currently relocating to a new facility to provide enhanced dedicated guest rooms, showers, bathrooms, and laundry facilities in addition to a spacious lounge, dining, and gourmet kitchen areas.
